We are delight to offer for sale a gorgeous piece of Archaic Chinese Craftsmanship.

A Chinese Bronze Ritual Wine Ewer or Pitcher fashioned from a very heavy weight bronze with a gorgeous Verdigris patination in Turquoise Greens and Chocolate Browns.  Its design dates back to the Song Dynasty. This example most likely dates to the Qing Dynasty, late Qianlong period 18thC to early 19thC.

It comes complete with its original bronze stopper, which has a stylized bird perched as the finial.

The body shape is best described as a flattened teardrop with a long narrow neck and on each side it is pressed a different stylized Chinese characters and floral motifs.  It has a very slender Swans neck spout and a shepherd hook shaped handle fixed at the lower body and middle neck. It stands on a raised and wide flared foot and is pressed in the base with a square seal mark, which is a little difficult to decipher.

It is in Excellent Condition. No Dents Cracks or Repairs! It would have had a small chain linking the Cover to the handle which is missing. The cover has  small moulding fault in the rim, which would have been recreated in the firing process and only adds to it charm and authenticity. Otherwise No Serious damage.

This example measures approx.

9.5 inches in height x 4.75 inches across from handle to spout.
